Ohio Task Force 1 left last week to help Florida with relief efforts after it was battered by Hurricane Helene.The team has now moved to western North Carolina,

"We have quite a bit of mudslide areas," Reall said. "We've got some debris in fields and in waterways. We’ve got debris in the roadways. It’s pretty widespread devastation."

Reall said the task force is made up of 83 people from Ohio and surrounding states, and the group is now operating in two shifts during daylight hours. "It's taxing work," he said. "When we get closer to the Asheville area, we'll be dealing with a lot more mud than we are now. Just the debris- more than we had anticipated. It'll be more physically taxing. The other teams working there right now are experiencing that.""Even in recovery mode, we are closing chapters for people and making things better for them," he said.

"We don’t walk anywhere without somebody thanking us for coming up to help," he said. "Certainly this is what we enjoy doing and we like helping people and stuff like that.
