PISCATAWAY, New Jersey — Ohio State, with five minutes gone in the third quarter, felt to be in an increasing amount of danger.

Ohio State led Penn State 10-6 at halftime in an eventual 20-12 win. Ohio State was tied with Maryland 10-10 at halftime in an eventual 37-17 win. Ohio State was up 3-0 on Notre Dame in an eventual 17-14 win. And Ohio State was only up 10-3 on Indiana at halftime in an eventual 23-3 win. Quarterback Kyle McCord once again threw an interception on a pass he needed to make a better throw on. The run game had its moments, but even with wide receiver Emeka Egbuka back in the lineup, the passing game struggled to find consistency. The defense, against a team that was remarkably limited throwing the ball, had a hard time defending the run and allowed Rutgers running back Kyle Monangai to rush for 6.6 yards-per-carry and 159 yards.
