True freshman Malaki Branham exploded for 35 points on 13-of-19 shooting and Jamari Wheeler added 16 points as No. 11 Ohio State scored the last five points in regulation to force overtime before prevailing 87-79 on the road against Nebraska.
Derrick Walker had a chance for a game-winning putback but Gene Brown blocked the shot to force overtime. The game was deadlocked at 44 apiece with 14:15 to play as Jimmy Sotos came off the bench to splash a triple and dish two assists, one to Zed Key and another to Gene Brown, to offset a pair of Nebraska free throws giving Ohio State a 51-46 lead with 12:18 left.
Turned out he was just getting warmed up as the freshman kept Ohio State in it for the duration of the first half, pouring in 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Branham came into the game with five made three pointers across his first 10 collegiate games.
