Ohio State’s got a history with Purdue that Ryan Day’s hoping to avoid: Buckeye Breakfast

Ohio State has a frustrating history with Purdue of the Boilermakers playing spoiler.

Ryan Day will attempt to avoid becoming the latest Ohio State head coach to leave West Lafayette with a loss to Purdue.on the road this weekend to face a Purdue team that has historically been a thorn in the program’s side and he’s hoping not to add to it.

Wesley Fesler suffered the first road loss in 1947 as part of one of the few seasons in program history that OSU finished with a record under .500;Earle Bruce fell short in 1984 with a 28-23 loss;Jim Tressel lost to Purdue on the road 24-17 in 2004 then again in 2009 in a 26-18 contest;Even Urban Meyer fell victim in what was the most lopsided game in a 49-20 loss that cost the Buckeyes a playoff spot in 2018.

History suggests that the Buckeyes may be in danger on Saturday even if they’re playing a 2-4 team that has spent six games not showing much reason to be worried. Day has yet to lose a game against an unranked opponent or against any team where at least on paper OSU should be able to name its score.
