“He’s had a really good junior year,” Holtmann said. “We’ve been on him in some areas, but when you look at how important he is in terms of the physicality of how we want to play, he’s really important for this team.” “The reality is there’s going to be some growing pains and we experienced that both with our young guys attacking their changing defenses and a guy like Felix who got in early foul trouble. I thought the first one was a tough call, a hedge. With Zed out, he’s got to be able to stay in the game for us and stay out of foul trouble. He’s learning that.”"What he can do in games like that is give us, one he would’ve really helped rebounding," Holtmann said.
“More than we ever had, we just have to continue to work on it and get better. I said before the year that there’s going to be growing pains with a group that is new and young. We’ve seen some of that. Now we have to speed up some of that development if we can.”Fletcher Loyer hit a 3-pointer to put the Boilermakers ahead, Ohio State did not get off a final shot as Purdue’s defense disrupted the play“It was exactly what we were trying to get,” Holtmann said.
“I get it, officials are saying they want players to decide the game, but there are certainly a lot of fouls that would be called in the guts of games that aren’t called late,” Holtmann said.Ohio State will go to Jersey Mike’s Arena this weekend and face a Scarlet Knights team it beat on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Tanner Holden in the Big Ten opener for both teams in early December.“That is a loud, loud environment,” Holtmann said.
