I just heard Bill Landis on his podcast say how OSU RBs are forcing missed tackles at 7%…by far the worst in the Day era. It made me think about Coach Lock, and for how much great he has done, it may be his fault.
2023 TreVeyon Henderson was indecisive and danced in the backfield, got tackled for losses. Lock comes in and suddenly Tre was running through people and staying north/south, which fixed his issue. Lock clearly must be coaching these guys to avoid negative plays and stay downhill; very few TFLs but they just run into the first unblocked defender. Even when run plays are blocked well, our guys can’t get extra yards. Bo is the only one has show a little patience behind the line, and it has been effective. I personally don’t believe Bo is anymore physically gifted than Peoples…but he knows how to run. I’d like to see these guys stay patient and at least TRY a juke on a defender rather than just trying to run everyone over. This is a forum post from a site member.
