The historic prison, which opened in 1896 and housed more than 155,000 inmates over the course of its history before closing in 1990, offers several experiences that have become major attractions for both ghost enthusiasts and curious travelers. It hosts ghost-hunting school, late-night ghost hunts, mini ghost hunts and guided ghost walks.through the Reformatory’s Paranormal Institute has just one remaining 2025 date – July 26. Students arrive at 2:30 p.m. for two hours of classroom instruction followed by a four-hour guided ghost hunt. The July session specifically focuses on audio and electronic voice phenomenon, pareidolia , shadows, and orbs.
