Luke Montgomery has been a valuable addition to Ohio State's offensive line in the College Football Playoff, helping to create a push against strong defenses. Despite playing in a rotation and enduring a banged-up nose, Montgomery has contributed significantly to the Buckeyes' offensive success.
One Ohio State offensive line man, after a year of being on the sidelines, has a role to fill in the College Football PlayoffBuckeye’s OL Luke Montgomery during Ohio State ’s spring game on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in Columbus. David Petkiewicz, cleveland.comCOLUMBUS, Ohio — Luke Montgomery has helped give Ohio State ’s offensive line the spark its needed in the last two weeks of the College Football Playoff. And he has the “busted” nose to prove it.
Montgomery has provided that against Tennessee and Oregon, even with a helmet that continually bashes his nose every time he makes contact with a defender. He stepped into the rotation after Ohio State’s offensive line — with Siereveld and Tshabola at both guard spots — struggled to create a push against Michigan in the regular season finale. Now, that group has paved the way for an offense that has scored 83 points in two games against two of the best defenses in the sport. Montgomery, playing in spots, has helped give a shot in the arm to the group.
Now Montgomery and the front five will be tasked with yet another challenge as they face a talented Texas defensive front.
