George Fitzpatrick, a key reserve offensive lineman for the Ohio State Buckeyes, has entered the transfer portal, adding to the recent departures of other offensive linemen.

George Fitzpatrick announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Saturday, marking the third Ohio State offensive line man to do so since the regular season concluded. Fitzpatrick, a former four-star prospect, served as a crucial reserve for the Buckeyes this season, achieving a respectable 73.8 PFF grade. This move follows a similar decision by offensive line man Michalski.

Both players opted to enter the portal after Ohio State secured a pair of transfer offensive tackles for the upcoming season. Fitzpatrick gained playing experience as a backup guard in Ohio State's first two College Football Playoff games. However, throughout his three seasons with the Buckeyes, he predominantly played as an offensive tackle, the position he was recruited for out of high school. While Onianwa and Daniels are expected to be Ohio State's starting offensive tackles next season, with the departures of Donovan Jackson and Josh Fryar anticipated after this season, Fitzpatrick's exit alongside Michalski and Walker might prompt OSU to seek an additional transfer tackle for depth. Currently, Ian Moore and Deontae Armstrong stand as the only returning linemen who have primarily played tackle at Ohio State. However, Tegra Tshabola and Luke Montgomery have also seen time outside, and incoming freshmen Jayvon McFadden and Carter Lowe could potentially contribute depth at OT.
