Ohio State men’s ice hockey will wear alternate uniforms that pay homage to 1940s Buckeye football in the “Faceoff on the Lake” battle with Michigan.
While FirstEnergy Stadium is new to outdoor hockey, the outdoor meeting will be a familiar experience for the competing teams. The Wolverines previously knocked off the Buckeyes, 4-1, at the Cleveland Guardians’ Progressive Field on Jan. 15, 2012. Michigan is 4-2-1-1 all-time in outdoor games, while Ohio State has a record of 0-3.
As for matchups this year, the programs split their two-game series in Ann Arbor in January. However, Ohio State holds the latest bragging rights after a 3-3 tie in regulation eventually ended with a shootout victory for the Buckeyes in Columbus.
