Ohio State hosts one of its biggest recruiting weekends as the Buckeyes begin their title defense campaign against No. 3 Texas.

Ohio State kicks off its title defense campaign against No. 3 Texas at noon on Saturday. The game coincides with one of the biggest recruiting weekends of the year, with an anticipated visitor list exceeding triple digits.

While a comprehensive visitor preview will be published Friday, two significant commits in the 2026 class have confirmed their attendance: linebackersafety felt family is one of the biggest reasons to be committed to the Buckeyes Safety Cameron Johnson and linebacker Charles Rushing are both ranked within the top 55 prospects in the 247Sports 2026 composite rankings and are key acquisitions for Ohio State's defense in future seasons. Johnson, reached in May about what stands out to him most about Ohio State, highlighted the program's brotherhood and commitment to excellence. “The transfer portal just happened and Ohio State is one of the schools that just shows that brotherhood, that stands out to me every time. “I’ve been able to see how things are run this spring coming off a national championship. They’re not getting too lax. The addition of coach (Matt) Patricia also shows the things that he brings to the table and the way Ohio State is going to be run this year.” Meanwhile, Charles Rushing, received an offer from Ohio State offensive line coach Tyler Bowen. This weekend will mark his first visit to Columbus during his recruitment. Ranked as the No. 60 player and No. 7 offensive tackle in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings, the 6-foot-5, 293-pound Georgia standout possesses 27 Division I offers, including Alabama, Arkansas, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA, and Vanderbilt. The Buckeyes will also be hosting several other notable prospects. Offensive lineman Dazey will be attending the Buckeyes' week two contest against Grambling State on September 6th. He will also be visiting Indiana this weekend. Ranked as a three-star prospect, Dazey is considered the No. 1,334 player and No. 111 interior offensive lineman in the 2026 class. The Massillon product has received 20 Division I offers, all at the Group of Five and FCS level. Defensive lineman Jaden Buchanan recently received an offer from Ohio State and has already scheduled a visit to Columbus for the Buckeyes' game against Minnesota on October 4th. The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Buchanan, ranked as the No. 221 prospect and No. 23 defensive lineman in the 2027 cycle, has accumulated 22 Division I offers. Other notable prospects expected to be in attendance include Xavier Nwankpa, Tyson DeWalt, and Jelani McDonald
