Ohio State’s running back depth could be tested on Saturday with TreVeyon Henderson listed as questionable and Miyan Williams out against Purdue.
Starting running back TreVeyon Henderson remains questionable to play against the Boilermakers after missing last week's Maryland game with an undisclosed injury. He has 44 carries for 295 yards and five touchdowns in four games this season, including a key 61-yard score against Notre Dame in Week 4.
If Henderson is unable to play, it will mean the second consecutive start for the rusher who is usually his backup, Chip Trayanum. Trayanum has 45 carries for 207 yards and three touchdowns this season, but managed just 61 yards in 20 attempts against the Terrapins last week. Hayden saw the field as a freshman in 2022 after injuries piled up in the room, picking up 111 carries for 553 yards and five touchdowns. He played three snaps and made one catch for a loss of two yards against Indiana to open the 2023 season, but has not seen the field since as Day confirmed Tuesday that the team is looking to redshirt him.against Purdue with a lower-body injury he sustained against Maryland.
Third-string tight end Joe Royer is another addition to this week's injury report. Royer has been used sparingly behind Cade Stover and Gee Scott Jr., seeing 16 or more snaps in Weeks 1 and 2 but only gettingtotal since then. He was out for Ohio State’s third game of the season against Western Kentucky, but was available for the Buckeyes’ last two games.
