Hartline's latest promotion gives him new influence and authority over the Buckeyes’ perennial juggernaut.
The former Buckeye receiver has so far spent his entire coaching career at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
His recruiting classes have consistently included highly ranked receivers from across the country. Last April, three of his former receivers — Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson and Jameson Williams, who finished his career at Alabama — were drafted consecutively from 10th-12th in the NFL Draft’s first round.
Hartline will now take on a larger role in the game plan, from design to implementation. Although Day called the plays, Wilson had a large role in the weekly process, especially as it related to the run game. Hartline’s promotion — and Bailey’s promotion — ensured the rest of OSU’s offensive brain trust remained intact.
