Day has been an advocate for increased mental health awareness throughout his Ohio State career. The cause is personal to him as his father died of suicide when Day was 8 years old. Nina Day also said this has been a lifelong priority for her, as she has struggled with anxiety — especially in her college years, when resources were scarce.
The Days also recently established the On Our Sleeves program aimed at behavioral health for adolescents.
