Buckeye Grove sits just outside Ohio Stadium at Ohio State University. A tree is planted in honor of each football All-American.are in their first season in Columbus but each spent the year showing why they’re among the nation’s best players. Downs and McLaughlin did so as transfers from Alabama, hoping to add to what was already considered a championship-contending roster, while Smith was the headliner of OSU’s 2024 recruiting class.
The trio are the first players to earn All-American status this season, though only Downs and McLaughlin have officially earned immortality as first-team recipients.
