Igbinosun opted not to submit paperwork for the NFL draft, which had a Friday deadline for Ohio State players. Igbinosun, a two-time All-Big Ten honorable mention selection, has been a consistent starter for Ohio State since transferring from Ole Miss.
He cited the opportunity to take on a more prominent leadership role in the upcoming season as a key factor in his decision to return. As one of the most experienced players on the defense, he will be looked upon to guide and mentor the younger players. During the team's run to the national championship this season, Igbinosun recorded nine pass breakups, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery. Next season, he will be a crucial part of the Ohio State defense, which is expected to bring back three full-time defensive starters.Igbinosun stated that he made his decision after consulting with his mother, head coach Ryan Day, and cornerbacks coach Tim Walton. He expressed his desire to embrace a larger leadership role, stating, 'I get the opportunity to lead and do it all over again, and have a bigger role as a leader, as more is going to be expected of me as a senior.' Igbinosun possesses the physical attributes coveted by NFL scouts, including impressive speed and instincts. At 6-foot-2 and 192 pounds, he has the ideal size and build for a long NFL corner.
