A new scholarship program, "Buckeye Bridge," is set to transform the educational landscape for low and middle-income students in Ohio. A new scholarship program, "Buckeye Bridge," is set to transform the educational landscape for low and middle-income students in Ohio.

The initiative, a partnership between Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College , offers graduates from CSCC the opportunity to pursue a bachelor's degree at OSU without paying tuition or fees for two years."Today, I'm not just speaking for myself. I'm speaking for the many students who are also facing challenges throughout their college journey," she said. CSCC College President David Harrison emphasized the program's impact, stating, "It's about eliminating uncertainty for students and families. It's about creating a clear, predictable, guaranteed, debt-free pathway to an OSU bachelor's degree." OSU President Ted Carter Jr. highlighted the broader benefits, saying, "This effort will strengthen the associates to bachelor's pipeline for central Ohioans, creating new pathways for students to further their education and earn the skills necessary for many of our state's in-demand jobs." For Williams, who balances her studies with work as a peer advisor and caregiving for her grandmother, the program is a "life changer." She shared her excitement, saying, "I was just excited about the opportunity when my supervisor had told me out of them, I was like, oh my gosh, that is amazing. That would be a lot, great for a lot of other students, not only just me, but for many other students who can't afford to pay thousands, thousands of dollars for tuition." To qualify for the Buckeye Bridge program, students must be Ohio residents, complete an associate degree at Columbus State, file a FAFSA annually, maintain full-time enrollment at Ohio State and have a family adjusted gross income of $100,000 or less. With more than 1,000 students transferring from Columbus State to OSU each year, the Buckeye Bridge is expected to be operational by spring of next year.
