Ohio State comes in at No. 3 in the AP Poll and USA TODAY Coaches Poll after its Week 1 win over Notre Dame.

Despite an 11-point win over then-No. 5 Notre Dame in Week 1, Ohio State fell to No. 3 in both the AP and USA TODAY Coaches Polls.

Alabama remained the No. 1 team with its 55-0 shutout win over Utah State, according to the press and coaches. However, Georgia's 49-3 beatdown of then-No. 11 Oregon in its opening game was enough for both sets of voters to have the Buckeyes and Bulldogs switch places in the polls, with the former now ranked third and the latter ranked second.

Ohio State, who received two first-place votes as the No. 3 team, knocked Notre Dame and first-year head coach Marcus Freeman to No. 8 in the AP Poll and No. 9 in the Coaches Poll after a 21-10 win in Columbus. Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin claimed victories in Week 1, which kept all three teams in the top 25 for the second consecutive poll. The Wolverines are ranked fourth in the AP Poll and fifth in the Coaches Poll. At the same time, the Spartans are 14th and 11th, while the Badgers are 19th and 18th, respectively.

As it currently stands, Ohio State will play its next two games against unranked opponents Arkansas State and Toledo before Wisconsin visits Columbus on Sept. 24. The Buckeyes are set to play Rutgers the following week before another tough test against Michigan State on Oct. 8. They would finish 2022 with five unranked teams and a matchup with Michigan on Nov. 26 at Ohio Stadium.
