After just two seasons at the Buckeyes' helm, Ohio State baseball coach Bill Mosiello is leaving to return to TCU as the Horned Frogs' top assistant and hitting coach.
Despite a marked improvement from the team during his tenure, Mosiello is jumping from the Buckeyes back to his former outfit in TCU to be the team's top assistant and hitting coach after just two seasons in Columbus.
“We want to thank Bill for his time as a Buckeye and wish him well with his new adventures,” executive associate athletic director Shaun Richard said in a statement.after the 2022 season, when the Buckeyes went 21-30. It was just their third full losing campaign in the previous 35 years, all of which came under the now-Marshall head coach.
Mosiello got off to a rough start in his first season in 2023, going 2-5 to start before losing eight of 10 games at a point later in the campaign, but the Buckeyes closed the season on a nine-game winning streak to finish 31-25 despite missing the Big Ten Tournament. Ohio State went 29-26 and returned to the Big Ten Tournament for the first time since 2021 in 2024, where the Buckeyes were knocked out with a 1-2 record in a double-elimination format.
