It’s starting to look and feel like fall in Ohio. Trees across the state are slowly displaying reds and yellows as they prepare for the winter months ahead. According to ODNR Fall Color Forester David Parrott, many parts of Ohio are currently nearing their peak fall color.

“A lot of the trees we're seeing showing those colors are going to be oaks, hickories, and even some sugar maples that we're able to hang onto their leaves through that rough part in the beginning of the fall," Parrott said. The vibrancy and duration of fall foliage depend heavily on weather conditions. Parrott explains the perfect setup for vivid fall colors. “We don't want too much rain. We want it kind of like Goldilocks. Right in the middle, where we're getting a decent amount of precipitation," Parrott said. " Then we start getting sunny days and cool evenings, which is kind of what we associate with fall weather." While Hocking Hills is a well-known destination for fall foliage, there are many stunning parks around Columbus that offer incredible autumn views. Each park offers unique trails, forested landscapes, and displays of fall color without needing to travel far from home. Whether you're heading deep into the hills or staying close to the city, now is the time to get outside and enjoy the foliage as it nears peak colors.Sensory-friendly trunk-or-treat event offers Halloween fun for kids with autism Halloween season is upon us, and for many children, the annual ritual of dressing up in costume and trick or treating in their neighborhood is a highlight.
