The state of Ohio on Monday reported 9,774 new cases of COVID-19, the second day in a row with a COVID-19 case count below 10,000.
COVID-19 deaths are reported twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, though often the deaths being reported are weeks old.
A total of 7,139,319 Ohioans have received at least one vaccination, representing about 64.9% of Ohioans age 5 and up. Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 16,820 deaths among people reported as unvaccinated, and 804 among people reported to be fully vaccinated. And there have been 55,481 hospitalized Ohioans who were not fully vaccinated, and 3,372 fully vaccinated people hospitalized. These numbers are updated weekly, each Thursday.However, the total cases being reported recently likely are understated.
