COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Mayors Alliance, a coalition of mayors representing the state’s largest cities, has issued a set of recommendations to Gov. Mike DeWine to curb gun-related crimes and prevent youth from getting their hands on firearms.

Those who signed the letter include Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, Akron Mayor Shammas Malik, and Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter. The letter -- signed by bipartisan members of the OMA Board of Directors, co-chairs of the Mayors & Police Chiefs Leadership Committee and other mayors from Ohio’s largest cities, including Columbus and Cincinnati -- outlines five key recommendations to the governor:

Double down on state grants to cities and local law enforcement agencies for technology support and data-driven strategies to reduce violent crime.
