CLEVELAND, Ohio — Authorities filed new charges Friday against Ohio House Rep. Bob Young that stem from allegations that he violated a protection order in July.
Court records do not detail the circumstances of the incident. Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer reached out to Young and his attorney, John Greven, for comment. in July. He was picked up earlier this month, when police say he contacted one of the people he was barred from contacting as a result of a restraining order connected to the July incidents.
“I will be vigorously defending myself, and I’m looking forward to personal and legal vindication as the court process plays out,” Young said in his resignation letter to Stephens. “I was hopeful that this matter could be resolved before this point, but I can no longer deny the distraction that this matter has caused the Ohio House of Representatives as an institution, as well as my colleagues, with whom I serve.
