Jason Robinson, 22, is charged with two counts of illegal conveyance. Both charges are third-degree felonies.
Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey said Monday that Robinson was being paid to bring the marijuana and tobacco into the jail for inmates,“I want to say I’m sorry, I’m very sorry that you threw away what could have been a really great career here,” McGuffey said during a news conference Monday, according to WLWT. “I don’t understand it. I hope you move on in life after the consequences of this crime. Honestly, he disappoints me.
Robinson had only been working in the jail for six months. Other deputies turned him in and he was arrested on Friday, reports say. Twelve bags of marijuana were seized, each weighing one ounce. WXIX says McGuffey would not say how Robinson was smuggling the items into the jail, WXIX reports. Another deputy might have been smuggling in tobacco, according to reports.
