“Now, we are left with substantial questions about the governor's knowledge of the astonishing corruption between his PUCO appointee and FirstEnergy," Sen. Kent Smith of Euclid said. "Who in his administration knew about the $4.3 million payment to Sam Randazzo, who did they tell, and when?"But DeWine insisted he knew nothing about the purported payoff when picking Randazzo.
DeWine said Dawson never showed him the file when he was considering Randazzo for the post in March 2019. He repeatedly described Dawson as a highly competent, loyal employee who has worked for him almost since she got out of college some four decades ago.He was asked if he inquired why Dawson didn’t share the file.
