The case involves several unhappy customers. Yost filed a civil lawsuit in Lorain County on Feb. 28 against Jeff Crawford. He owns Cleveland Custom Homes.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - A local contractor is at the center of a major lawsuit. Homeowners used their life savings, trusting him to build their dream home. He is accused of running off with their money.“More than a million dollars in dispute here and we are going to court to make it right,” said Yost.

“Everything kind of just stopped at once. Either the trades were tired of not being paid and just quit showing up to these jobs. Leaving these homeowners trying to figure out how they are going to finish their house, how they are going to get things done. Leaving most the trades trying to figure out how they are going to recoup their cost,” said Seeley.

It states that Crawford did not comply with the Home Construction Service Supplies Act. He failed to provide service contracts containing all of the required information, didn’t deliver services outlined in the contract, performed services in an unworkmanlike manner, not paying subcontractors, and charging an excessive down payment.
