Monday is the first day of classes for Weber State, which can be exciting for students, but one neighborhood is dreading it because of students speeding through
their streets. KUTV
People who live on Taylor Avenue in Ogden have been petitioning the city to close off their street so students can’t drive down it. For some students, they choose or have to use Taylor to get to or from the school. Some people who live on the street say the students are going a little too fast and might not being paying attention while they do it.Richey has been trying to get a gate since 2023, and recently got 61 of his neighbors to sign a petition.“We just want to give the mayor time to review the issue, and we want to go back and keep it in the forefront. We don’t want to let it die,” he said.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Nadolski said there’s going to be “an enormous surge of enforcement for opening day and beyond.”“The idea being, we’re going to try to change behavior, and we’re going to make sure that people know if they’re going to go through that area, you better go through there safely or you’re going to end up having some consequences,” Nadolski said.
