The search for Travis Decker, the man accused of killing his three young daughters in Chelan County, may soon come to an end as investigators await DNA evidence to confirm whether remains found near Leavenworth are his. Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison said decomposing remains were discovered on Grindstone Mountain at an elevation of 4,000 feet, surrounded by personal items such as clothing believed to belong to the 32-year-old father. The site is approximately three-quarters of a mile from the Rock Island Campground, where the bodies of Decker's daughters—9-year-old Paityn, 8-year-old Evelyn, and 5-year-old Olivia—were found on June 2, along with Decker's truck. Sheriff's investigators had hoped to receive DNA results from the Washington State Patrol by late Friday afternoon, but as of 3 p.m., they are still waiting. Officials have set up a command post near Leavenworth as they continue to process the crime scene as part of the ongoing homicide investigation. Sheriff Morrison expressed cautious optimism about potentially nearing the end of the months-long search. "We're not going to pat ourselves on the back just yet," he said, emphasizing the need to await DNA confirmation.
