JUST IN: Police have released the mugshot of a man accused of shooting a Phoenix officer on Friday, triggering an hours-long manhunt.
The officer shot, according to officials, was shot in South Phoenix, but is expected to survive. The suspect was reportedly taken into custody in the neighborhood where the incident happened. The officer was able to drive away, but she had been shot in her left hip and was hit in the face by bullet fragments. She was taken to the hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police officials also said another officer suffered minor injuries during the search for the suspect due to a dog bite.SkyFOX was over South Phoenix during the afternoon hours of Mar. 24 when it captured the moment police took a person into custody, in connection with a shooting earlier in the day that left a Phoenix Police officer injured.At the emergency room entrance of the hospital where the officer was taken to, a number of police vehicles could be seen in a show of support for the officer.
