A police officer shot a man who hit him with his vehicle multiple times in a McDonald's parking lot on the North Side on Sunday night, according to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus. The police chief said the officer was responding to a disturbance at the fast food restaurant located near the intersection of Blanco Road and West Avenue at around 10:45 p.m.

According to McManus, the man hit the officer in the legs with his vehicle as the officer approached the man on foot. That is when the officer shot and injured the man, McManus said. The man was transported to University Hospital, where he underwent surgery. The officer involved has been on duty for one year.
