HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- A Hamilton police officer responding to a domestic incident Friday night in Hamilton Township was taken to the hospital after being shot, a Mercer County prosecutor confirmed with CBS Philadelphia.In a series of posts on social media early Saturday morning, Hamilton Police said a suspect fired at officers as they responded to the call just around 10 p.m. on the 1800 block of Orchard Avenue.

Police said the injured officer was taken to the Capital Health-Fuld and 'is expected to survive.'The Mercer County Prosecutor told CBS Philadelphia that another person was shot, but did not specify who that person was or how they were involved in the incident.Police said on X that the Mercer County Prosecutor's Officer and New Jersey Attorney General's Office are investigating.This is a developing story.
