One of the pilots grabbed Emerson while the other declared an inflight emergency. He initially resisted, but records say he settled down after a roughly 30-second struggle. Once the airplane made an emergency landing at the Portland International Airport, Port of Portland Police put Emerson under arrest.
“ didn’t say where, didn’t say when, didn’t say why. And then immediately the plane veered right and went straight down headed to Portland,” said passenger Paul Stephen.
