The coffee shop, on Vista Way in the Pacific Coast Plaza, is the second San Diego County store to unionize this year. In February, workers at a National City Starbucks voted
“We care about making a better partner experience, which will then improve our customer’s experience,” said Serena Vasquez, an Oceanside barista, in an emailed statement. “Our hope is for Starbucks to truly respect the value we provide to the company.”“At Starbucks we believe that our direct relationship as partners is core to the experiences we create in our stores,” said Starbucks spokesperson Phil Gee, “and we respect our partners rights to have a choice on the topic of unions.
Starbucks and the union representing roughly 11,000 baristas, Starbucks Workers United, have been in negotiations since February, with bargaining-table negotiations starting in April.
