If a ticket is good enough for a motorist, why isn’t it for a cyclist?
): Pedestrian and road safety are very important. Far too many people are killed and injured on the streets. I would love to applaud Oceanside’s new ordinance paving the way for confiscating the e-bikes of reckless riders.
But how many cars has Oceanside confiscated for parking in the bike lane? Or parking in a crosswalk? Or parking on the sidewalk? Or passing cyclists too closely? Or failing to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk? If a ticket is good enough for a motorist, why is it not good enough for a cyclist? Please explain. The Oceanside City Council’s selective seriousness about safety should fool no one. If members were actually concerned about safety and public access, they would be aggressively targeting the behaviors most responsible for serious injury and death on the roads.
