The iconic Oceanside Pier's 'hammerhead' and the buildings on it were destroyed by a massive fire late last month.

When the wind blows in the right direction, the smell still lingers on the Oceanside Pier where a fire raged nearly a month ago on April 25.

"I would only add that there are numerous regulatory agencies that will need to review and permit the demolition and repair work, which is a major contributor to the extended timeline," Borrego told NBC 7 on Monday. “We submit this to the state for potential," Parsons said."The governor or director of the Office of Emergency Services will determine whether we meet the standard for California Disaster Act Assistance funds. These costs are substantial, and the reimbursement decision will affect what can be accomplished.”

"No decision has been made on what the replacement will look like, as that is a city council decision," Parsons said in an email to NBC 7 this week."There has been no change in our current investigation findings," Parsons said."The current information is that the cause is undetermined, but evidence and witness statements haven’t ruled out an electrical heat source under the pier in the Northwest corner.
