Trump was for the electoral college before he was against it -- on Twitter, anyway.
When it comes to President Trump, there’s always a tweet. In fact, there’s a Twitter TWTR, -1.09% account based on that very notion.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democrat of New York, triggered that response thanks to her continued call to abolish the Electoral College, which has handed the presidency to a candidate who lost the popular vote on five occasions, including Trump in the 2016 election. Clearly, judging from the email above, the president vehemently disagrees with her position — at least what’s interpreted as her position by her detractors — that “coastal liberals in New York and California should have all the power” and that “Patriotic Americans” don’t deserve a voice. The electoral college is a disaster for a democracy.
