The suspect lived only a few doors down from the victims and confronted them outside their home around 5 a.m. on Jan. 12, police say.
OAKLAND — A local resident has been arrested and charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting up a car full of family members, striking a man in the head and paralyzing a woman from the neck down.
The suspect, identified in court records as 23-year-old Adriel Elias Torres, was charged with two counts of attempted murder, and three counts of shooting into an occupied car, court records show. He remains in jail without bail, and is next due in court to enter a plea on Feb. 27. The victims ignored him and got into the car. When Elias Torres lingered, one of the occupants allegedly opened the door to attempt to strike him with it, and he responded by firing his gun, striking the 18-year-old woman in the shoulder, authorities said.
Police say Elias Torres lives 100 yards away from the victims. Police had been called to his home last year, when a neighbor accused Elias Torres of throwing bricks at his home during an argument, authorities said.
