Three people face murder charges in connection with a six-minute beating inside a suspected gambling shack on 17th Avenue.
OAKLAND — A patron at a suspected illegal gambling shack on 17th Avenue was stripped of his clothing and extensively beaten by three assailants, who allegedly struck him in the head with a firearm and stomped on his head for six minutes, according to court records.
Additionally, 47-year-old Jenevieve Ramirez has been arrested and charged with being an accessory after the fact to the torture, court records show. The 17th Avenue property, like many suspected gambling dens around the Bay Area, has the outward appearance of a typical residential home. But it has been the subject of several police raids, most recently last Aug. 31, when authorities say they seized four semi-automatic firearms, 15 pounds of marijuana, 12 gaming machines, and $3,000 in cash from the house.
In October 2020, police say they seized a backpack containing various drugs and his driver’s license at a suspected illegal gambling shack on the 1400 block of 19th Avenue.
