It ends their 57-season-run in Oakland that included 21 postseason berths, four World Series and, ultimately, not nearly enough fans or civic interest inThe Coliseum has been home to lots of good, bad, ugly and sad Rangers moments. Nolan Ryan pitched his sixth no-hitter, and first with the Rangers, here in the middle of the A’s last World Championship run in 1990. The Rangers clinched division titles in the Coliseum in 2010 and 2016.
And, so, this is more personal to him. But it’s not so much about the building as it is the people who showed up for A’s games and the workers who often manned sections without fans. The crowds were usually small, but rowdy. When they were big, the building swayed. The stadium workers formed a close bond with players, everybody seemingly locking arms in small-market-vs.-the-world mentality.
