The Irons’ disappointing start to the season continued at the City Ground on Saturday leaving them 14th in the Premier League.Sources say pressure will ramp up on Lopetegui and set “alarm bells ringing” with the fans and board if the Irons are on the losing side against Sean Dyche’s side.
However, Lopetegui’s reign is seen as a long-term project and the West Ham board will not rush into a knee-jerk decision. The Spaniard is aware that results and performances must improve if he is to continue in the London Stadium hot seat.West Ham have won just three of their 10 Premier League games this term, including a 2-1 victory against Man United last week.
The Irons spent huge money in the summer window in a bid to give Lopetegui the chance to put his own stamp on the side following David Moyes’ exit.Lopetegui’s side are six points above the drop zone and were also unceremoniously knocked out of the League Cup in the third round, losing 5-1 away at Liverpool.
