She would make chocolate bunnies for Easter, Santas and trees for Christmas and nut clusters for both of those holidays.
Gram had me help her make them a couple times, but I think I sampled too many of them so at some point I was excommunicated as a “helper.” She never left that small portion of the peanut butter exposed at the top – for that “signature buckeye look” – because she thought they dried out faster that way. She was right, especially if you stored them in the refrigerator or freezer .
