O'Connor catcher Amiya Jasso hit a homer and added a triple to help the Panthers beat Brennan 3-2 to even their Class 6A softball regional quarterfinal series.
O’Connor junior catcher Amiya Jasso hit a triple and an inside-the-park home run to lead the Panthers to a 3-2 victory against Brennan in Game 2 of their best-of-three Region IV-6A quarterfinal series on Friday night at Northside Softball Field No. 2. The series is tied at a game apiece heading into Game 3 , which is set for noon Saturday. Brennan won the opener, 12-5, on Wednesday. “We knew that we had to play as a team,” Jasso said.
Julia Rogers entered as a courtesy runner and scored when the next batter, Jasso, drove her in with a triple to center field. Jasso was awarded home on a throwing error trying to get her at third base to complete the Little League homer. The Bears tied it in the bottom of the fifth after loading with bases with one-out singles from Farrah Lemus, Liliana Salas and Christen Brinkman.
