Nzimande places Unisa under administration
A government gazette obtained by City Press records Nzimande's decision, which has been the subject of a dispute between him and university vice-chancellor Puleng LenkaBula.I, Dr BE Nzimande, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, in accordance with Section 49 of the Higher Education Act , hereby appoint an administrator for the University of South Africa. The appointment and the terms of reference of the administrator are attached to the schedule.
In a statement released this week, the university denied the allegations against Motebele and its leadership of any wrongdoing. The report also criticised Motebele’s return to Unisa, saying that, in reappointing him, it had ignored its own internal audit report.
