Looking for today's NYT Connections hints? Some help and the answers for today's game are right here to help keep your streak alive.
Each day’s game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before today’s NYT Connections hints, here’s what you missed on Tuesday:I’m a sucker for documentaries about journalistic institutions as well as anything that takes you behind the curtain of highly competent people doing what they do best.
So of course I watchedIt’s both a quick trip through the magazine’s 100-year history and a chronicle of how the centenary edition came together in February. The film is a little too laudatory, I thought, but I enjoyed it overall. I found it quite inspiring too:games and all kinds of other stuff. It’s a lovely, welcoming group of folks. I like to call it our cozy little corner of the internet. You’re more than welcome to join us. Don’t be shy!presents you with a grid of 16 words . The aim is to arrange them into four groups of four. You don’t know how they hit together or what the category for each group is: that’s what you have to figure out. There’s only one correct solution and there are often red herrings. You can guess incorrectly three times. A fourth wrong guess, and it’s game over. Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to deduce, followed by blue, green and purple. Often, the yellow and green groups have synonyms, the blues have cultural references and the purples have some kind of wordplay involved. But this is not a hard and fast rule. Be ready for curveballs – part of the fun ofand similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends using an emoji-based grid. The game tracks your progress too. Many players take pride in having long win streaks or getting a reverse rainbow – correctly guessing the purple, blue, green and yellow groups in that order with no mistakes. That adds an extra little challenge.I’ll first give you a list of today’s words, then a hint for each category. After that, I’ll reveal one word that goes into each group. Then I’ll tell you the category names, followed by the full answers.🟦 Blue group — things that have less "honey, honey" and more "sugar, sugar"🟨 Yellow group — "my goodness!" 🟦 Blue group — confection I initially thought COPY and YEAR might be part of a "_____book" group, but nothing else I saw quite fit, so I left them alone to begin with. The blues were no problem, though. I got those sorted out quickly. At that point I realized that COPY had to go with the forgery words to square away the greens. Those are just synonyms. That left the purples for victory. I didn't clock that connection and, even though they were leftovers for me, I forgot to submit them before the greens. Never mind! In textspeak, "Y" can replace WHY. When asked to give a date of birth, you might be asked to submit it in the format dd/mm/yyyy, if the entity asking for the information uses the logical way to format dates. Y could stand for YELLOW in, for instance, the CKMY color model. And you might see Y/N offered as options to a written question, such as "do you like like my friend?" In case you're wondering about the hint, Y is a "flexible" letter since it can take the place of a vowel. I'm pleased to say my winning streak is now at 284. Only 16 more to go until I reach another nice, round number. No separate Answers Explained column today, since the purples seem like the only group that needed to be spelled out.P.S. I was tempted to offer up "Sugar, "Sugar" by The Archies as today’s blue hint, but I’ve used it as a recommendation before, so a slightly oblique reference felt like the better way to go. Instead, since we had "imitation" as a category and I've been on an R.E.M. kick lately, let's go with "Imitation of Life" for today's recommendation. It's a great song from the latter half of the band's career. The video is really well done too:hints and help with other word games, and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot! Sharing this column with other people who play
