Disgraced former NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey is under investigation for sexual harassment after a lieutenant accused him of forcing 'unwanted sexual favors' in exchange for overtime pay.
Former NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey 's home was raided by the NYPD 's Internal Affairs Bureau and federal investigators on Thursday as part of a criminal investigation into sexual harassment accusations. Maddrey resigned abruptly on December 20th following bombshell allegations made by an NYPD lieutenant who claimed Maddrey, the highest-ranking uniformed member of the department, had sexually harassed her and forced her to perform 'unwanted sexual favors' in return for overtime pay.
NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed the investigation and Maddrey's suspension, stating that law enforcement agents executed search warrants at several locations, including his residence. Any NYPD officer who retires technically 'stays on the books' for 30 days and can be suspended if it's been determined he's violated department rules or committed a criminal act. The lieutenant also alleged that Maddrey retaliated against her by adding her name to an internal list of the department's top overtime earners when she rejected his advances. Following Maddrey's departure, Tisch initiated a 'top-to-bottom' review of the department, particularly concerning overtime practices
