The NYPD is investigating a police-involved shooting in Brooklyn on January 10, 2025, where officers fatally shot an armed suspect who pointed a firearm at them. The incident occurred near a convenience store in Canarsie, and the entire event was captured on bodycams and security footage. The suspect, a 50-year-old man, was shot in the torso and transported to Brookdale University Hospital in critical condition. Police recovered two firearms from the scene: the one allegedly pointed at the officers and a ghost gun dropped by the suspect inside the store.

“The officers verbally identified themselves and gave the male numerous verbal commands, to which he did not comply,” Rivera said during a press conference at the 69th Precinct early on Saturday morning. “The male then ran behind a tree and pointed his firearm at a uniformed sergeant.” The gun which police say they recovered from an armed suspect in a police-involved shooting in Brooklyn on Jan. 10, 2025.Police recovered both the firearm the suspect allegedly pointed at the sergeant, as well as a ghost gun the male allegedly had and dropped inside the convenience store, Rivera said.
