At least 21 inmates and 12 employees have tested positive for coronavirus

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio discussed his plan to release Rikers Island Prisoners on Sunday.

There are approximately 7,000 inmates at the prison known for its austere island location and famous former residents which include Tupac Shakur, serial killer David Berkowitz, known as the Son of Sam, and Lil’ Wayne. The mayor went on to say that he was working late into the early hours of Sunday morning with officials continue to reduce the population of the jail.‘I am confident now that we will figure out what that right number is. We don’t have that number yet. I’m going to be real and honest with you,’ he said.
