The city is soliciting bids to use 14,000 units over a large number of hotels in the New York City region to house migrants.

The Department of Homeless Services listed on the city website a request for proposal, which describes how the agency is looking for a contractor that can help find large hotels and hotel management services to address the "current emergency.” The Department of Homeless Services added that the contractor would help continue the “Sanctuary Facility” program by booking, managing, tracking, reporting and invoicing for the hotels.
The comptroller, who is running to replace Eric Adams in 2026, said that his report shows how City Hall did not adequately vet nor supervise the company.
