New York City Mayor Eric Adams gave a cautious response to the news that the Department of Justice directed the Southern District of New York to dismiss the federal corruption charges against him. Adams stated he needed more information to understand the situation fully.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams offered a tepid response Monday night about the “possibility” his federal corruption case could get tossed.
“We were just notified of the possibility that the DOJ has communicated with the local US Attorney’s office here,” he said, adding. “I would like to speak to first and get a better understanding of exactly what’s taking place now because right now I don’t have any information.“As I’m sitting here calls are coming through, but we’re looking to find out what’s going on.”
Bove said that the charges have “improperly interfered” with Adams’ reelection bid with a crowded Democratic primary coming up in June and “unduly restricted” the mayor’s ability to fully focus on cracking down on violent crime and the flood of migrants in the Big Apple.
He has denied wrongdoing and claimed the criminal action was brought as political retribution over his criticism of Biden.Rep.
