A 75-year-old employee of the New York City Department of Education was arrested on Monday for allegedly shoving a 14-year-old student at the Brooklyn Transition Center, a specialized school for students with autism and learning disabilities. Luis Benalcazar faces a misdemeanor charge of third-degree assault and could be terminated if convicted.
A New York City Department of Education employee was arrested while on duty Monday for alleged assault, authorities confirmed to The National News Desk .
The 75-year-old is accused of shoving a 14-year-old student while working at the Brooklyn Transition Center,to the New York Post. The specialized school assists students with autism and other learning disabilities. Jenna Lye, deputy press secretary for the New York City Department of Education, told TNND in a statement the employee may lose his job if convicted of the offense.
